Final Stretch!

We have had some exciting events take place in the last month. Our 6th graders competed in The Greek Olympics a couple weeks ago. They had been studying all about Greek city states and the games they competed in during that era. We decided to create our own Greek Olympics with an opening ceremony, a series of events, and a closing awards ceremony. The students did a great job and were incredibly excited and competitive during this competition. Here are a few pictures of the students who won events during the Olympics.

Also, Our Roaring Rockstars for this past month!

Building Our Muscles!

We are in full on fitness mode here at LCE! From kindergarten all the way to sixth grade!
Kindergarten through Second grade has been running relays, working on baton hand offs as well as strengthening their arms and legs with push ups, mountain climbers, squats, lunges and sit ups!

In 3rd through 6th, We are conducting Fitness Testing. Our theme is " Are You Stronger Than a Fifth Grader?" Fifth graders have presidential fitness testing this year. I decided to test each grade this year to see where they measure for certain exercises. They are tested on the Mile Run, Push ups, Sit ups, Trunk Lift, and 50 Yard dash.

Be A Heart Hero!

On Friday, March 27th, our school is proud to partner with the American Heart Association through Jump For Heart! This community service project teaches our students the importance of heart health while having a great time jumping rope in PE class! Students also have the opportunity to raise funds for the American Heart Association to fund research and educational materials to lower the risks of heart disease and stroke.

To join our team go to www.heart.org/jump and register now!

The kids are pumped and excited to participate in this event. Last Friday, my jump for heart representative Kyle came to our school for our LCE Jump For Heart kick off day and spoke to the kids about the event, showed them some great videos about a couple of kids who have had heart transplants, and a video that shows all the great prizes you can receive when raising money!
